User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0a2) Gecko/20110804 Firefox/7.0a2 Iceweasel/7.0a2
Build ID: 20110804042002
Steps to reproduce:
Gentlemen,
In the right mouse menu,
there is "View Background Image",
well that might be very well and nice,
However you MUST ADMIT that an additional
"disable background image"
would indeed be ONLY REASONABLE to add,
and would be the LEAST you could do for accessibility,
without requiring the user to mess with plugins, add-ons, styles, etc.

And don't just say `uncheck "Load images automatically" in preferences.'
That is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

And don't just say "I see the Stylish icon in your tabs at bottom. Use that."
I'm here reporting this bug for the general public. The general public should not be forced to use add ons for basic accessibility. Nor should they need to contact the page author to get him to fix it... for all we know it probably looks great to him in his browser.

There are several extensions out there (Web Developer and Firefox Accessibility Extension to name 2).
Marking as an enhancement.
Severity: normal → enhancement
Summary: add 'disable background image' to the right mouse menu → [RFE] Add 'disable background image' to the right mouse menu

OK, I installed https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/accessibility-evaluation-toolb/ and Web Developer seems to be installed too... Yes, temporary relief, but that still doesn't get you off the hook...

Thanks for filing the bug report. Since the target audience for this kind of functionality is so small, relative to our entire user base, the cost of cluttering the context menu outweighs the utility this would provide, so we won't be adding this functionality by default. Glad you found an addon that will let you get the feature you desire, though - that's what addons are all about!
