Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0
Build ID: 20110615151330

Steps to reproduce:

Closed Firefox, and started it again.

Actual results:

When I start Firefox again then Firefox started to upgrade without any information ... whatsoever.
Then after approx 30 seconds or so, Firefox opens, now Firefox 6.0

BUT all my tabs from previous session is gone, and the "Restore previous session" in
Firefox (button) -> History is grayed out.
So currently I do not know how to get back my previous tabs. Is there another way for me to find them.

What a mess!

Expected results:

Firefox should open with previous tabs and tab-groups, and not forget my session.

And one more thing, whenever Firefox updates, I would like to see a message of what is going on regardless of automatic updates or not. Now the update just took place in the background, after clicking the Firefox start icon. Why not give us the user some information about what is going on?

Paul, is this a known issue? I've seen several bug reports in our system similar to this recently.

Tore, please file this in a new bug.

This was not an issue before the actual upgrade took place.
I have closed and opened Firefox lots of times before this, without any problems at all.

I'm not going to file a new bug on this one.

I forgot to mention, that after I restored closed windows after the upgrade, then it works. I can now close and open firefox. Tabs are restored.

It only happend immediately after Firefox opened first time in version 6.0
So IMHO this is an upgrade issue.... so why file a new bug?

I'm not sure if you understood me but I wasn't asking for you to file a new bug for the issue of losing tabs. I was asking you to file a new bug for the unprompted update process. This is a completely separate issue which should be captured in its own bug otherwise it will not get visibility to developers.

I haven't seen this before (there were a bunch of other bugs but 6 was unaffected) and connected with comment 3, it sounds like something different happened - if it were really lossy then the data wouldn't have been in recently closed windows.
@Tore have you been able to reproduce this in the last couple of days? Is there any other information you might be able to provide so that we can reproduce it? It might help if you could attach a copy of your sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak files.

No more problems since my initial report here.
It only happened one time only (so far), when Firefox upgraded itself to version 6.0.
Okay -- I'm going to resolve INCOMPLETE based on comment 7. Please reopen if this happens again.
