We used to use this for alphas, but we're no longer doing that. I don't think there are any users of this particular branding package; if that's true we should remove it.
I know Ubuntu has an unbranded browser "abrowser". I don't know if they use that branding for it. Maybe other distros are using it, too. For all I know, Debian is not.
We're not using it either, and I got rid of the unbranded abrowser package in Ubuntu some time ago too

I am using an unofficial build (not publicly available at this time) for my daily browsing. As long as unofficial building is a supported feature, providing a suitable default branding package for such builds is a courtesy. "browser/branding/unofficial" is currently the most suitable, and bug 659568 would make it the default.
There seems to be energy in the direction of bug 659568 and bug 682414, and I do not see the point of removing browser/branding/unofficial in the interim. Please reopen if this is wrong.
