This problem happens with modern theme only.

->hewitt, Themes, cc: andreww. Is this related to the need for 9-part elements?

OK, really cc: andreww this time -- is this related to the need for 9-part
elements that can stretch with larger text, or is it something else.

This is a consequence of the max-height/min-height on the progessmeter. Because
of this, the status bar doesn't expand to fit the size of the text. I have a
fix for this, coming soon.
