nice work neil. your patch makes sense. racham, can you review / test and drive this patch into the tree?

Neil, Good patch. thanks. I have an issue that I want to bring forward in the context of this fix. When you do loadStartFolder() and say user has not chosen to login at startup for default server (inbox), then we will not open the inbox on loadStartFolder() for the user. Intead, we select the default account and display AccountCentral page for that account. Because loadStartFolder() is used at startup, we are checking this pref (login at startup). If we have to go to Inbox, then we need a break that routine so that we can pass a boolean that says open the inbox...Let me know your thoughts. Once we sort out these issues, I will take this patch on to the tree.

Racham, Yeah, that's right. If we do that, the user will always get the inbox, whenever mail is opened. If you feel that a user might want to go to the Account Central whenever the mail is opened, there could be an option in Mail Preferences, in radio list format: When launching the mail/news window, display: o Account Central o Inbox folder (o News)? Marcos.
Marcos, there's a setting for that. What I wanted to change was the effect of clicking the mail taskbutton when messenger was already open. Perhaps it should just switch between multiple messenger windows?
> Marcos, there's a setting for that. Is there? I'm affraid there isn't. It can't be the "Check for New Mail at Startup", because of the reasons discussed in bug 94537 (2001-08-27 09:23). > What I wanted to change was the effect of clicking the mail taskbutton when messenger was already open. Perhaps it should just switch between multiple messenger windows? Agreed. Marcos.
[RFE] is deprecated in favor of severity: enhancement. They have the same meaning.

MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but still has no comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project 5 years ago. Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED. If you still can reproduce the bug on SeaMonkey 2 or otherwise think it's still valid, please REOPEN it and if it is a platform or toolkit issue, move it to the according component.
