User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.20) Gecko/20110803 Firefox/3.6.17 Build ID: 20110803131630 Steps to reproduce: Had to restore my PC to day before to get them working again Actual results: Was not able to open links in my emails. Kept getting errors Expected results: obvious
There's not really enough information here to know what the problem is, and if it went away after you restored your PC you likely can't supply much additional information. Please report this at http://support.mozilla.com/ where they excel at helping people hunt down these kinds of mysterious failures. Your user agent says both "rv:1.9.2.20" (which would match Firefox 3.6.20) and at the same time "Firefox/3.6.17" -- something is wrong with your Firefox install unless you are purposefully spoofing the user agent.

Problem did go away when I restored PC to prior date of install. As far as the othe comments I have no clue to what you are referring. ie (Your user agent says both "rv:1.9.2.20" (which would match Firefox 3.6.20) and at the same time "Firefox/3.6.17" -- something is wrong with your Firefox install unless you are purposefully spoofing the user agent.) I am not familiar with the terminology. When I click on help then about mozilla firefox it says my version is 3.6.21. I don't know what user agent is nor spoofing the user agent. I still keep getting reminders to accept download of security update because I like to click on links in my emails to open web pages. In my original message I explained that that was my problem which I wish to avoid losing again.
Last 2 lines should have read: I still keep getting reminders to accept download of security update which I refuse because I like to click on links in my emails to open web pages. In my original message I explained that that was my problem which I wish to avoid losing again.
It appears that I had a VIRUS in the registry which my son deleted. it is all better now.
