Some bugs end up with 15 or 20 (or more) comments listed. Scrolling through the list can be tedious when there are a lot of comments. It would be nice to have a 'directory' of comments, each a link to an anchor. This would make it easy to find the newest comment, or the last comment by the developer in charge of the component, etc.
Can you re-run your diff as a "diff -u"? That way it will pull in the context around it, and will make getting this into the current code base a hell of lot easier, since your patch is against an older version.

Comments have now acquired hyperlink anchors, so you can go directly to a comment. kls@merlot.com - does this address your concerns? Gerv
Yes, this is nicer than the patch I provided. Thanks.
bug 71840 still doesn't provide a directory to the comments though, which is what this bug is asking for. Granted, the patch here needs to be completely redone now, based on the work in bug 71840 (should just be a matter of making an index now). Maybe we should just have it dynamically generate one or two links based on the number of new comments in the last x time period and put "jump to comments within the last 24 hours" or "last week" or "last hour" depending on how many there's been in that amount of time.
I don't think we need a directory of comments any more; the only useful link of this sort would be "jump to the first comment I haven't read", and doing that would involve a lot of back-end data storage of who viewed what when. Gerv
We are currently trying to wrap up Bugzilla 2.16. We are now close enough to release time that anything that wasn't already ranked at P1 isn't going to make the cut. Thus this is being retargetted at 2.18. If you strongly disagree with this retargetting, please comment, however, be aware that we only have about 2 weeks left to review and test anything at this point, and we intend to devote this time to the remaining bugs that were designated as release blockers.
Target Milestone: Bugzilla 2.16 → Bugzilla 2.18
I agree - we don't need a directory now that comments have numbers. Marking dupe of 71840, I guess. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 71840 ***
