Firefox should warn if you are running an older QT or Java plugin by querying software update. We should hook into the softwareupdate framework (not sure if it is public) or call softwareupdate --list on the CLI and look for QuickTime or java updates.

If we wanted to we could even possibly apply them via the same interface so users don't have to launch SoftwareUpdate.app? Or, it'd probably be best to just launch SU.app.

Alternatively we could manually parse the SU catalog but that seems a bit more brittle to me.
Christian, what's the difference to bug 613305? Both, QT and Java are plugins, and we have plans to integrate the plugin-check into the add-ons manager on that mentioned bug.

Hmmmm, it might be a dupe. Java and QT are a special case on Macs though and we can actually install it for them if we were so inclined. Not sure.
So lets add a dependency for now, because extra code would be necessary here.
Depends on: 613305
Summary: Firefox should warn if you are running an older QT or Java plugin by querying SoftwareUdpate.app → Firefox should warn if you are running an older QT or Java plugin by querying SoftwareUpdate.app
