If you paste test copied from notepad or text widgets the result should be the
same as if you typed it in. But the pasted text never has any formatting.
Related to / dup of 68166 "Copy text from a form textarea to notepad drops CRLF"
Seems this was fixed with checkin for bug 50497 "Missing newlines in TXT output".

Sorry that you haven't understood me, but the text you pasted in has no
formatting, just as I described...

Try formatting a paragraph as bold or red or something and then pasting into it

how do you bold text in notepad? you can change from proportional to fixed font 
or change font size, but that is it, I even went to 
http://www.mypeecee.org/rogsoft/ to see if there was an improved version with

You bold (or whatever) the text in Composer, then paste text into it from Notepad.
Communicator 4.x applies the composition's existing formatting to the new text.

I agree with you Neil, but this is a WONTFIX.  It was decided that pasted text
does not inherit styles in the target of the paste.  Go figure.
