68801 - jre.xpi won't install on latest builds (0.8 and nightly)

I have RedHat 7.0.90 (Fisher) installed! 

Previous versions of mozilla could install jre.xpi on RedHat 7.0. 
Installation of mozilla-2001-02-14-03-M0.8 works like a charm, and I have d/l
jre.xpi to my HD. (I have tried the latest nightlies as well).
During the startup mozilla is registering the plugin 0 twice:
Registering plugin 0 for: "*","All types",".*"
Registering plugin 0 for: "*","All types",".*"

When I dubbel-click jre.xpi in mozilla the pop-up msg comes up and I choose to
install it. 
When it is finished installing the pop-up dialog disappears but mozilla is still
"browsing". (this happened in RH 7.0 as well)
I then click the STOP-button and restart mozilla. 
I can see during startup that mozilla has *not* registered the java plugin. 
But it starts up, even though without java support (tested on java.sun.com). 

If I do this: 
cd /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/; ln -s
../plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so plugins

I see that during startup mozilla is registering the java plugin (twice) but it
doesn't show up! It just stops there... The last 3 lines are:

Registering plugin 18 for: "application/x-java-bean;version=1.2.2","Java(tm)
Plug-in",""
Registering plugin 19 for: "application/x-java-bean;version=1.3","Java(tm)
Plug-in",""
Registering plugin 20 for:
"application/x-java-bean;jpi-version=1.3.0_01","Java(tm) Plug-in",""

Any ideas?
