This has been happening in Ffx 7 and also in 9.0a2 Aurora. OS 10.7.1 After deleting a bookmark or altering the name of a bookmark, the UI is unresponsive for several seconds. The changes do not appear during that time, nor is scrolling or selecting a new bookmark with my mouse possible.

may you copy your places.sqlite file to a new profile and test with that if the issue is reproducible in Nightly please? I suppose the issue happens in safe mode as well, stupid question but I know some add-ons out there do sad things.
