Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17-21mdk i686; en-US; 0.8) Gecko/20010215
BuildID: 2001021503
If you try to copy and past any text from Mozilla that is enclosed in tags, the
paste will fail, even if the pasting is done between mozilla components. I don't
see this problem on Windows, only Linux. Don't have a mac to test.....
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
try to copy and paste this entire paragraph <into any other> text editor or into
a mozilla mail program. If you include the less than sign, the paste will fail.
Actual Results: If you include the less than sign, the paste will fail
Expected Results: The paste should not fail, and the resulting pasted text
should include the full text, including the less than and greater than.
The problem exists not only when you're using the CTRL-C and CTRL-V keys and
menus, but when you;re using middle mouse paste as well.

This was fixed a few days ago (about two hours after the build you are using was
built, in fact).
Duplicate of bug 68166 ("Copy text from a form textarea to notepad drops CRLF")
by way of bug 68870 ("Copying text in <> (eg html tags) from form fields does
not work").
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 68166 ***
