From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; 0.8) Gecko/20010219
BuildID: 2001021904
When i try to read some talkbacks in LinuxToday, i constantly get a stripe of
garbled rendering horizontally across the screen, about 2 to 3 inches wide. The
garbled stripe disappears when i scroll down and up again.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Open http://linuxtoday.org.
Click on a link to a story with a few talkbacks.
Read the talkbacks.
Actual Results: See above
Expected Results: It should have rendered the page correctly, without the
garbled stripe.
This seems to happen when the text in the middle of the page is rendered first,
and then has to shift a bit to the left to make room for the links-block on the
right.
Also, sometimes the stripe will render with the page initially and disappear
when the text shifts left.

This problem has existed on my system for at least two months now.
I just tried build 2001022605. I can't reproduce it anymore. It looks like the
bug was fixed as a byproduct of something, although i don't know what that would be.
My question is: what could have changed over the last week to fix this?
WFM Win98 2001022820, also based on reporters comment.

Oops. My mistake.
I took another peek today, and the bug's still there.
The bug being gone last time was an isolated incident. :-)

The problem seems to be gone in Mozilla 0.8.1 for me. Does anyone else still see
this problem?

I still get the second screenshot that I posted with 2001032804
I'm not sure if the behavior of the original screenshot occurs....

Ok, yes, the garbled pages still occur with 2001032804
The best way to reproduce this is to leave a Mozilla "find" dialog open and
switch back and forth between Mozilla and a different program. (If you look at
the screenshot attachment, you can see what I mean....)

I still see this problem occasionally on my work PC (WinMe), but not at home
(Win98).
Perhaps it is dependant on the video hardware / driver? Martijn, can you post
details about your system, in particular the video card and driver?

I still see it too.
With my (normal i think) browsing behaviour, i see it about once every half hour
with the build i just downloaded from the nightlies-directory.
I still have Win98SE, with an i810-card in the box.

Ah-ha! It looks like my hunch might be right.
I have an HP with integrated Intel 810 Video:
Intel(r) 82810E Graphics Controller 4.12.01.2576
Hardware version 003
This one may end up being INVALID, but I wonder why other applications don't
exhibit this problem? I may see if there's an updated video driver somewhere
that I can try out.

I have a Dell with a nVidia TNT2, and I don't see the problem. Maybe you are
right, but its impossible to prove a negative ;-)

I downloaded the latest drivers from:
http://appsr.intel.com/scripts-df/Detail_Desc.asp?ProductID=798&DwnldID=2987
and all is well... (so far)

Well i'm not going to test it that way. It's a company POS PC (Dell). If it
works, i'll take your word for it.
If it does work, maybe this should be added to the release notes.

-> Invalid, as this seems to be a video driver issue.
