Bug 600505 comment #42

The second radio button should read "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to download and install them" like in Windows (7) update settings.
Blocks: 600505
So you're proposing to change
"Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them" to
"Check for updates, but let me choose whether to download and install them".
I proposed that longer string originally in bug 600505 comment 7, and Faaborg agreed in bug 600500 comment 14.

The proposed change makes it clearer that we don't even download the update without user consent. Windows has both the proposed option and another option to "Download update but let me choose whether to install them".

However, faaborg said in bug 600505 comment 11:
"small nit, mentioning if the update is downloaded seems kind of peripheral to the overall choice, and increases the complexity (one would assume that an update must be downloaded before it is installed)."

The proposed string is pretty long indeed, and for some locales it might even wrap to two lines. Of course we could tell our localizers to drop the "download and" part if necessary.

So, are we going ahead with this?
Let's change this to "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them." It's true that downloading is a step here as well, but I think the concept of installing an update can be said to include downloading it

That's the current string already... --> WONTFIX.
