If MSN is not loaded or not connected then Mozilla starts normally. If I am
connected to the internet using MSN then Mozilla never completely starts. It
stops somewhere before the part that displays the "splash screen". Instead I
have to choose "End Task" and "unconventionally" terminate the program. If I
shut down MSN then Mozilla works normally again. The build ID is 2001022105.
Hmmm Reporter do you have any way to debug the crash? Does MSN use DirectX at
all? Thanks in advance.

I do not think the software crashes so I have no way to debug that. I tried it
again and it stopped as usual, but as soon as I disconnected MSN, the splash
page appeared and the browser continued to load. So the software seems to stop
until MSN is disconnected, but MSN does not have to be shut down. There is an
animated butterfly that is displayed while the connection is active. I think
that uses DirectX, but I think there is a different animation while there is no
connection, and it does not affect anything.
Yeah, Mozilla hangs while running a DirectX app, I don't know if MSN uses
DirectX or not but the symptoms match.
Possible Relnote
Keywords: relnote
Dup of bug 53952, "Mozilla won't start if another Windows DDE app is frozen",
by way of bug 66161, "mozilla wont open up a window, just sits in memory, when
msn is open".
