User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 Build ID: 20110928134238 Steps to reproduce: Added the "un-highlited" word being spell checked to the dictionary. I had to assume that the highlited suggested word would not be added. Actual results: Worked. Expected results: The word being checked should have been highlited.

I'm not really sure what comment 0 means. Would you mind elaborating please?
The spell checking routine if fine, as long as there is "verification" of change to be made by the user. It has been awhile, but I think I activated the spell checker and when it came to a word not in its dictionary, it "hightlighted a suggested" word that was in its dictionary, which I did not want. The user should highlite the suggested word, for verification of change by the user.
The spell checker highlights the misspelled words, not the suggested words. To get the suggestions, one needs to right click the misspelled word. What am I missing here?
I am a creative writer, and like the piece I was working on, many of my words are not in a spell'checker dictionary. I have to customize them as I go. I am probably not your typical user. I'd close this unless another user makes a similiar comment.
I'm not interested in closing this issue. I'm more interested in understanding what you mean. Maybe it's a good idea if you can attach a screenshot/screencast from another application which has the behavior you want? Thanks for your patience. :-)
The reason I was hesitant is because this may be more of a SCR than a bug, but I still think it is worthwhile looking at. I am suggesting: 1. It is more clear to change the label from "Misspelled word" to "Not in Dictionary." 2. Leave the "Replace with" field empty (allowing the user to either select one of the suggested replacements or key-in one themselves, as it does now.) I couldn't get the previous comments to upload the picture of what I am talking about, so I have it here: http://www.nwlink.com/~phoenix/Url/Bug-700969.jpg Thanks, Dale Sprague Seattle
Oh, OK, so you're using SeaMonkey Composer. That is what I was missing. :-) I'm moving this back to the SeaMonkey component to be retriaged. If it's a Core bug, please feel free to move it back. Thanks!

(In reply to phoenix from comment #6) > The reason I was hesitant is because this may be more of a SCR than a bug, > but I still think it is worthwhile looking at. I am suggesting: > 1. You can do that by pressing Edit button, and there you can write proper replacement and add it to dictionary. Suppose, wontfix then?
