User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0
Build ID: 20111104165243
Steps to reproduce:
Unchecked tabs on top
Actual results:
Title bar is blank and the space is wasted when not using tabs on top mode.
Expected results:
Title bar should contain the <title> of the page even if the tabs are not on top.
This is true.
Did this work in Firefox 7?
Where is the Firefox menu button in your screenshot?

I'm sorry I had an addon that removed the menu button since I almost never use it
As far is FF 7 is concerned, it seems from this support thread it goes all the way back to FF4.

I'm pretty sure this was an intentional change, as dumb as it seems to me: Limi can you confirm and mark this bug WONTFIX if that's true?
I've written the "Aero Window Title" extension to give you the correct behavior, at least on Windows": https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/796749#answer-272976

Should be marked as windows xp and w7, not sure about win2k and below.

I'm pretty sure that my extension works on Windows XP also...
I think this bug is valid, should be NEW. If it is then decided it is intentional then it should be cleanly WONTFIXED.

Yes. Can somebody from UI or product please resolve this bug appropriately?

UX made this decision back in 4.0. There is an extension on add-ons that adds the title, bsmedberg wrote it and I think he's maintaining it as well.

Just because it was intentional doesn't mean it's not a bug!

Also, for reference, the decision seems to have been made in bug 572160, comment 36.

(Did UX *really* decide that a blank, but full-sized, title bar was desirable in some way?)

So, I recently learned that it looks JUST AS STUPID when you have a non-maximized window on Windows 7, so I guess they really DO want it to look that way for some inexplicable reason. (I had been assuming that the space was actually used for tabs under Aero.)
