> http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer/mountainbike_game/ This game doesn't work properly on OS X 10.5.8, either (testing in FF 8.0). You see the same problem in the demo mode. But the following game works just fine: http://www.forgefx.com/casestudies/prenticehall/ph/catapult/design-test-simulation.htm So it is *not* true that the Shockwave player is "not working anymore in Firefox". Each time this bug's failure occurs (as described in comment #0), I see the following message in the System Console: 11/21/11 10:43:50 AM [0x0-0x31031].org.mozilla.firefox[1889] ActivateTemporaryFontFile: 0x243cbde0 This may have something to do with the problem.

We need tests on other platforms to see if the ActivateTemporaryFontFile message also appears there.

I also see the ActivateTemporaryFontFile message on OS X 10.6.8 (testing with FF 8.0 and this bug's URL).

And (as I forgot to mention) I can also reproduce this bug on OS X 10.6.8 (testing with FF 8.0).

I'm not sure the ActivateTemporaryFontFile message indicates a problem at all; I suspect this is just routine logging that Shockwave does when it uses a font that was "embedded" in some way. (Similar log messages are mentioned in bug 444506, but they don't appear to indicate problems, just normal shockwave activity.)

The game mentioned in bug 444506 comment #16 is still accessible, and appears to load (and play) without problems. But I don't see any ActivateTemporaryFontFile message when loading it (or playing it). And it uses Flash, not the Shockwave Player. We need more examples of Shockwave Player media that display the ActivateTemporaryFontFile message and/or trigger this bug.

The string ActivateTemporaryFontFile occurs in this file on OS X 10.5.8 and 10.6.8 (haven't yet tested on 10.7.2): /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Shockwave 11/Xtras/Font Xtra PPC.xtra/Contents/MacOS/Font Xtra PPC
