Nearky any single line input field with Swype enabled leads to skipped characters.  It's unusable.

I see this with nightly & aurora.

Sort of a vague bug report while on the road with the G2.  Let me know if you need more from me if you're unable to reproduce.

Matthew, are you sure you are using the latest Nightly with native UI from the birch branch? Aurora is a XUL-based version, which is known to have issues with some IMEs including Swype.
Could you please provide more info: what nightly build and what version of Swype are you using? And what device is this G2 - Samsung Galaxy S II?

I don't have a GS II, but I've been trying Swype on Galaxy Tab 10.1 and on Nexus One - didn't see any major issues on either using native UI build. Swype is slow (and not only in Fennec), but does not skip characters.
HTC T-Mobile G2 same hardware as the Desire Z though the G2 runs stock Android and the Desire Z runs HTC Sense.

Matthew mentioned Samsung, so I'd guess it is the Galaxy S II, especially if it's about Swype, which comes standard on Samsungs.

my test site has been phonebook.mozilla.org but any site with a single line text box shows this issue.

Happens on a Samsung Galaxy S2 in Aurora 11/25 build.

I don't see this on the native UI nightly.
I'm okay with a wontfix since it works in nightly.
sounds like a dupe of bug 691237 since this is an issue with XUL Fennec

It does sound like the bug 691237, if it happens only in the old XUL-based Fennec.
They both are caused by bug 653895.
