Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; Warp 4.5; rv:8.0.1) Gecko/20111123 Firefox/8.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.5
Build ID: 20111123211808
Steps to reproduce:
Entered folder to select a range of messages to move to a different folder. Folder contents displayed sorted by thread; threads were collapsed. Selected range, then dragged to new folder and dropped.
Actual results:
Only the first message of each thread was moved; the remainder of the threads remained in the original folder.
Expected results:
All messages in each collapsed thread should have moved. This was previous behavior, and also behavior under Thunderbird 9.0b1.

I have confirmed this behavior on IMAP as well as POP folders.
I know this was working as expected under 2.0.14; not sure of releases between there and 2.5 (I only ran 2.5b3 for a week or so, and skipped over 2.1 on).
Severity: normal → minor
Hardware: Other → x86

Possibly related (regression): Bug 448288
In my installation, mail.warn_on_collapsed_thread_operation is set true, as is mail.operate_on_msgs_in_collapsed_threads (tried setting the latter both ways; same result).
Apologies for the bug spam.

1. Does this happen with Thunderbird 8?
2. Does this happen with SeaMonkey 2.6b3?

Hi, Phil...
Just tested on openSUSE 11.4. TB9 is half-fixed, i.e., selecting collapsed threads and moving them move the entire thread, however, prior to moving them, expanding a collapsed thread shows only the first message as selected.
Installed SM 2.6b3 on openSUSE 11.4 from rpm downloaded from mozilla.org ftp (i.e., not my own build). The entire problem as described here remains (select one or more threads, move, only the first message in each thread is moved).
On OS/2, TB8 behaves as TB9 on openSUSE (the operation is correct, but the visual representation - default theme - is confusing). I should have noted this in my original comment. Changing platform to All.
