From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.16 i586; de-AT; 0.8) Gecko/20010215 BuildID: 2001021503 Mozilla trys to download the java plugin, installs it, but if I return to msmt.de, mozilla tells me that no java plugin is installed. Huh? 2nd: the title image is not shown correctly. It should be in the upper right corner with no pixel place between the image and mozilla itself. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Opening www.msmt.de, installing java plugin, open www.msmt.de again Actual Results: Mozilla asks me, if i want to download the java plugin Expected Results: show the java applet Seems like mozilla does not install any mimetypes (x-app-java).

Can you try it again with a new build ? This should be a dupe of bug 68356 (fixed 02/22/2001) You should run 'ln -s java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so .' in the mozilla/plugins directory. Mozilla failed to create the symlink Please reopen this bug if you have this problem again with a new build. Thanks Matthias Versen (from near Paderborn) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 68356 ***
This does sound like a duplicate to me, but the bug to which is has been duped is a different issue (native installer being deleted again before it could be run, regession from another bugfix).

I have two insallation of RHL 6.2 and i have installed Mozilla 0.6 on them. On first one java applets works fine, on second one I can't run any applet. The browser say 'install plugin' every time and at end of installation say '... error -225'. The plugin is installed on /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/java2 and I try to make 'ln -s ..lib..so .' but the state is the same: java applets don't work.

lazy@uni-paderborn.de, could you please try this again? If it still doesn't work try the workaround (ln -s) described by Matthias? If it still doesn't work please make sure you have write-access to your mozilla directory. That's basically all I can think of.
Xiaobin, can you please look at this?

Actually for linux, please notice that currently Mozilla debug build does not work with non-debug build of jre. So you need to get a commercial build of mozilla and then download the Java plugin. After that, please exit the browser and restart it. You should be able to see the applet. If not, please let me know.
Reporter: Please try the nightly build and see if the problem exists or not. Thanks!
Reporter: The debug mozilla had a problem working with non-debug build of Java plugin before. The problem is fixed now. This is why I asked you to try the nightly build and let me know if the problem exisits. Please try and if I have not heard from you for next couple of days, I will close this bug.
Since no response from reporter and can not reproduce this problem, close the bug and reopen if problem report again.
