Details

(Whiteboard: [MemShrink:P2])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0
Build ID: 20111128031052

Steps to reproduce:

1. create a bookmark of www.mozilla.org, and check "load this boookmark in the sidebar"
2. open the bookmark then close it
3. the compartment of www.mozilla.org never go out.

Expected results:

I'm not sure is it the same to bug 513675, if that is the case, the comment 2 in bug 513675 is invalid, because you can see the difference between same bookmark, in this case, Mozilla HomePage, the compartment come with the Tab bookmark soon went out, but not the Sidebar bookmark.

Summary: Site open in sidebar don't release memory after close → Site open in sidebar cause zombie compartment
It should block bug 668871
I can't reproduce in Firefox 10.0. I added a www.mozilla.com bookmark to the "Bookmarks Toolbar" and a www.theage.com.au bookmark to the "Bookmarks Menu". In both cases, after I opened and closed the site in the sidebar, the compartment disappeared when I clicked "Minimize Memory Usage" in about:memory.

Based on comment 2 and comment 3 I'd like to close this. dindog, can you please try again to double-check?

I got this consecutive reproduce with Fresh profile ever since I've found it.

Just in case, I mean load the tab in sitebar, like this:

Yes, that's what I did. (I didn't know the feature existed until now! :)

So if you could reproduce in FF8 but Phoenix couldn't reproduce in FF9 and I can't reproduce in FF10, I wonder if the problem was fixed in FF9?

dindog, can you try FF9? It is the current stable release.

I can reproduce it in FF9.
The zombie will not be swap until I toggle other sidebar (like bookmark or history )
I just tried a development build of FF12 with a new profile and now I can reproduce in both the "Bookmarks Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Menu". At most one zombie stays alive, i.e. if you load a new page in the sidebar the old zombie gets replaced.
