When entering text into a form field (either <input> or <textarea>), input hints that Android normally gives don't really work. It seems to interpret the whole entered text as a potential dictionary term, as it occasionally underlines the whole text. It flickers quite badly. Similarly, auto-capitalization and two spaces produce period don't work either. I figure they're related to the same issue.

Note that selecting one of the spelling suggestions replaces the entire <textarea>'s text, not just the first word.

My STRs are simply entering things into form fields or textareas, e.g. on Bugzilla. I have a Nexus S running stock Gingerbread with the stock keyboard.

Yes, I'm seeing this too. This is probably what caused the "occasionally deletes all input" problem that I reported in bug 705201. I just couldn't figure out what would cause it, but the spelling suggestions replacement looks like a very plausible explanation.
