Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:8.0.1) Gecko/20111121 SeaMonkey/2.5 I do not know how this is in Firefox. The following reflects what I see in SeaMonkey, running in Safe Mode, relative to the Bookmarks Manager menubar. The Tools menu includes items for the Data, Password, Download, and Add-ons Managers (along with the Password Manager submenu). It also includes Web Development (with submenu) and Switch Profile items. When not in Safe Mode, the Tools menu also may include items added by extensions, none of which apply to the Bookmarks Manager. The Window and Help menus include all the same items that appear in the corresponding SeaMonkey browser menus.
Firefox does not have a bookmarks manager menubar with those entries, shouldn't this just be moved to Seamonkey?
Component: Places → Bookmarks & History
Product: Toolkit → SeaMonkey
QA Contact: places → bookmarks
Safe mode is not required to see this, all this items are there in "regular" mode too. Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:11.0a1) Gecko/20111129 Firefox/11.0a1 SeaMonkey/2.8a1
IMHO This is working as designed. The "Task" (Tools) menu comes from a shared overlay. I suspect that this is INVALID/WONTFIX.
Perhaps there should not be a shared overlay. A window's menubar should only address capabilities that are meaningful for that window.
Menu bars should at least have the File and Edit menus at the start, and the Tools, Window and Help menus at the end. Windows may add their own menuitems to the File, Edit and Tools menus, and rarely the Help menu, but many of the items in those menus (such as Close, Select All and Switch Profile) are shared between multiple windows. The Window menu only has shared menuitems. This sharing allows convenient access to many SeaMonkey functions from open SeaMonkey windows without having to relaunch SeaMonkey to open the browser.

Before closing this bug report, please explain how the items circled in red in the attached screen shot would be useful while a user is maintaining bookmarks. Also explain how launching Mail & Newsgroups, Composer, Address Book, or IRC Chat would be be useful while a user is maintaining bookmarks. Note: The inclusion of LiveHTTPHeaders in the menus is an artifact of installing that extension. It too has very questionable utility while maintaining bookmarks.

Because it is intentional that any window with a menu have access to those features.
