From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; 0.9) Gecko/20010303 BuildID: 2001030308 If I use "Send Link" from the File menu, Mozilla becomes unresponsive for about 15 seconds and then returns a "Sending of message failed" alert. Retrying does not help. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit any URL, e.g. htpp://www.mozilla.org/ 2. File|Send Link... 3. Send the link to yourself. Actual Results: 1. Mozilla becomes unresponsive for about 15 seconds 2. "Sending of message failed" alert Expected Results: The link should get sent. Sending other mail works fine.
works okay with mar02 commercial trunk build, will confirm results with today's builds.

It works for me with mar5 commercial trunk build, but I see bug 70928 was logged involving Send Page(which also works for me in the instances I've tried), so there's something going on.

I reported the Send Page bug. However, I tried doing Send Link on the same pages that fail for me with Send Page and I could send it with no problem.
reporter: 1. are you using IMAP or POP? 2. are you logged into mail (if IMAP) at the time of sending? 3. is your mail window open when you are sending? 4. what happens if you try this: a. send link. b. compose window comes up c. copy the text in the body of that compose window d. from the mail window, open a new compose window and paste the link in. e. send Just some ideas to narrow this down further.
* I'm using POP. * MailNews if open. * During the time complete Mozilla is unresponsive, the Mail Compose window is still visible. * I cannot reprodruce it with mozilla.org, though with http://www.textur.com/webdesign/ , the bug (sometimes) occurs. * Maybe the bug has something to do with the subject containing double quotes or other funny stuff. * After copying the body to a new Compose window and using a different subject, sending the mail worked. After pressing the Send button, I got a 5 second delay with the Compose window still displayed. Usually, I don't get this delay.
This bug seems to have gone on 2001031604 on Win2k. Marking WORKSFORME.
