We want to ship Firefox with a good list of search engines for Fulah. 

We're going to work towards this in three phases. First, the localization team and Milos (Milos Dinic) will look at the market for the language and come up with a good set of search providers. Ibrahima, we'll need your input on this, the guidelines for making recommendations are on <https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Firefox/Productization>. 

For en-US, we currently use this set, to which we can fall back in the case of lacking localized alternatives:
Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Amazon, eBay, Wikipedia

After we decided on a particular search engine, Milos will contact the owner and ask for permission, and for specifics like proper search flags. Ibrahima, we'll likely need your help to at least get the contact information.

Once we have a specification on what the searchengines for Fulah should look like, the localization team and Milos will work on an implementation on that. This should happen by the localization team creating and attaching patches for the desired changes, and requesting review from Milos. After a successful review, the localization team will land them.

Please don't commit any modifications in browser/searchplugins to the hg repository without a patch reviewed by Milos, Stas, Axel or someone else appointed by Milos. The data here is sensitive to users and our search partners, thus the extra care here.

The Fulah team will be driving this bug to completion.

Hi
Fulah speakers live in 20 different countries and use English, French and (to a lesser extent) Portuguese as second languages.
I don't know how this should be handeled as far as falback is concerned.
I'd like some more explanation on what I should exactly do.

This bug is here to make sure Firefox users in Fulah get the best experience on the web by having an option to use search engines of different kinds in their own language.

Are there any search engines in Fulah? Search engines that are customized to show search results for all categories in bug description for Fulah speaking people the best?

Quick check has it that neither yahoo nor google are translated in Fulah. If that's so, we should fall back to second best language, which woould be the one that you think people who speak Fulah should have as secondary language, or the official language of the country most Fulah speaking folks live in.

We're open to any suggestions.

No, there are no search engines in Fulah. The issue of fallback is tricky as Fulah speaking people live in 19 countries with 5 diffrennt official languages. I would suggest French as fallback because the most litterate in Fulah are in Senegal and Mauritania.

what's nice in this situation is that you don't have to decide on English or French, but you can mix them. If there are some English search engines that work better than French for your people,but again there are also some French search engines that work better than English, you can do that as well.

So, per this bug's description(comment 0), we need to come up with 6 search engines. Would you please take another look at it, and pick a set of search engines from either defaults or french version that you think your users would be most comfortable with.
