This ONLY happens on HPUX 11i. Here's the steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure you have NO .mozilla or .netscape directories in your home
directory (delete them, move them, whatever....)
2. Start N6 on HPUX 11i.
3. Start Mail (tasks->Mail, or the Mail icon).
4. It will ask you to set up your account. Do so, but make sure you are
setting up an IMAP account.
5. Once the accound it set up, click on the INBOX for that account, and enter
your password. For some reason, you may not get all of your folders downloaded,
and messages may not show up if you click on them.
6. Close Mail (but not N6)
7. Restart Mail
At this point you should core dump.
I tried this on the N6 HP Beta build from the OEM branch, and also trunk build
#20010300421 with the same results.

dropping severity because we are unable to reproduce this now. it may be network

Uping the priorty because I was just able to reproduce this with the 6.01 RTM
build on 11i.
Severity: normal → major
Ok, I think this really have something to do with our network. A few mintues ago
I ran this locally on "assisi" I see the problem, and then the network on
"assisi" loses yp which I wasn't able to do a second test run. So I ran across
over to "esopus" and did it there locally, it works fine. Then I quickly ran
back to "assisi", set the yp and test, it runs fine now.
So maybe until we get a stable network then we can trace this down :-(

Tried this on esopus and the browser crashed everytime but once. As far as I
know esopus has been keeping its yp.
I would reassign this to myself but I don't seem to have that option in bugzilla ...

Just an update: Still seeing this with trunk build #2001052209 on hpux 11i.

I tried this on esopus using linzilla, but do not see any problem.
Jimmy/barrett, could you try it using my debug build at
/u/shanjian/build/mozilla/dist/bin
Let me know if you see any difference.

Don't see this on that debug build, nor on this afternoons daily build. Maybe
this has been cleared up. I'll check tomorrows build, and if it works, I'll
close this bug out.

Still seeing this on this morning's build on assisi. I get this output:
**************************************************
nsNativeComponentLoader:

with error: No such file or directory

Even though the above message says that libmimeemitter.sl can't be found, it is
there.

I wasn't able to reproduce this problem with shanjian's debug build but it
happens on the latest daily build 2001052409 for both commercial and mozilla.

I'm using the same build (2001052409) and am no longer able to reproduce this on
11i. Jimmy, are you running locally or remotely?
Comment 15•23 years ago
|
||
I'm running remotely on assisi ..
The pattern of the problem is inconsistent, sometimes I had to close the Mail
window a couple times for this to happen. Or download one folder at a time then
close the Mail window.

You will get this message sometimes when it is there but it can't
be loaded (i.e. unresolved symbols). From a debug build you should
be able to get more info as too why it can't load.

Barrett/Jimmyu, I need your help to reproduce the problem.
I downloaded 2001052509 build, but still could not see the problem. This make me
believe that the process we are following might have certain difference. How about
let's stick with one build (my debug build), one server (linzilla), and one
account (shanjian@linzilla.mcom.com, password: netscape) and one 11i machine (esopus).
Let me know exact process about how to reproduce it. I use remote login, so don't
even try local access.

On esopus using today's build 2001052909, I don't have any problems with either
Shanjian's linzilla account or my email account (which usually gives me
problems). On assisi, I still don't have any problems with Shanjian's linzilla
account, however I see this bug when I use my account. Difference between
esopus and assisi? - subnet, number of processors, is that all?

assisi single processor 11i machine

i wasn't able to reproduce this bug using shanjian debug build
(/u/shanjian/build/mozilla/dist/bin) with either shanjian's linzilla mail
account or my linzilla mail account on esopus(dual), pesaro(dual),
napoli(single) and assisi(single) machines using remote login.

Tried this, and could not reproduce the bug, at HP-FTC with the following
systems:
HP-UX hyundai B.11.11 U 9000/785 2013814656 unlimited-user license
9000/785/C3600 (single cpu)
HP-UX quattro B.11.11 U 9000/785 2008516007 unlimited-user license
9000/785/J7000 (4 processors)
using the RTM versions of GTK+ and N6.01 for HP-UX.

At Shannon's suggestion, I created a folder with 3 subfolders and 1
sub-sub-folder on my IMAP server, then tried the recipe again on quattro (J7000
running 11i) at HP-FTC. All works OK, no problems noted.

This bug has not been touched for nearly 2 years. In most cases, that
means it has "slipped through the net".
Could someone please take a moment to add a comment to the bug with current
status, and/or close it.
