updater is broken today (see bug 710751), we need to make sure this never happens again. We need tests that go red if and when they break again so we never push broken updaters to users.

:snorp -- keep testing in mind as updates evolve...let me know if you have testing ideas.

I'm not sure how to do this and I'm not finding the time to sort it out.

snorp, any ideas how to test this code?
Karen, if we're planning on relying on our updater for a release, we should know which one so we can make sure to have appropriate testing in place.

The three that we currently have in our sights (although none of them with any confirmed timing) are:
- Ouya
- Appia
- Amazon
I wouldn't bust any guts until we're further along in these relationships, however. Out of those three, I'd suggest that Ouya will be the first to implement (if I was a gambling woman)

with bug 1019724 getting close to resolving, we're going to have GA users relying on this mechanism for security updates. The importance of making sure it works seems to have gone up.

This is actually more important if we're going to start supporting Mozilla-hosted builds.
