Hello...
I've been using mozilla under both windows 2000 and Linux and have been wanting
the following for some time. If you use Windows 2000 or Windows 98 then chances
are you have seen the Quick Launch toolbar located to the immediate right of the
Start menu button. Internet Explorer has an icon there by default and clicking
either it or the IE icon on the desktop will always open a new window even if a
copy of IE is already running. If I start mozilla and attempt to do this with
mozilla, its "ignored" as a copy of mozilla is already running. I think it
should act like IE and somehow tell the existing copy of mozilla to open a new
window for the user. I use a virtual desktop utility on windows machine and
find IE's behaviour to be very useful.
Mozilla on Linux on the otherhand has the opposite problem. You can start as
many copies of mozilla as you want, seperate complete processes. I can see
advantages and disadvantages to this but is there some way to set up a pipe and
at least give the user the option of only having one copy of mozilla running for
a particular display?
Thanks for your time...
This looks like a duplicate of bug 50424 to me.
Bruce, it is good practice to check the list of most frequently reported bugs
(http://www.mozilla.org/quality/most-frequent-bugs/), before submitting a new
bug report.

In the linux case, there is a -remote commandline switch. Most decent
packagings of mozilla will probably use a startup script that will check for
running Mozilla processes and use the -remote switch if possible.
In the windows case there is bug 50424 (which may be extended to cover Linux too).
