User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1
Build ID: 20111220165912
Actual results:
If you type a search term into the URL address bar, it will send you to Google.com for search. Also, if you type a search term in the search box next to the address bar, it will search via the search engine you have selected.
Expected results:
I feel that this is doing things twice. Both IE 9, as well as Google Chrome, use the URL address bar as the search box and the address box. Why have two boxes you can use for search, when just the address bar can be used as the search box as well?
Is there a specific reason for this?

You can remove the search box if you don't like it.
A very large number of people isn't using the locationbar to search. A very good reason is that the search box allows you to select a different search engine. Another one is that autocompletion only works in the field, as the lcoationbar has a different autocompletion.

@Jo Hermans
OK. I didn't realize you could customize the toolbar and remove the search box. I guess that makes this bug "irrelevant". :P
Thanks for clearing that up. I'll close this bug as a WONTFIX, since it doesn't really apply.
