After running mozilla mail/news for half and hour or so, applications can no longer connect to servers. Eudora reports "Out of buffer space" when checking an email account, web browsers (ns4x, IE, mozilla, etc) report "Connection refused" or similar, AIM says it can't contact the server, etc. Mozilla mail reports some error, I can't remeber which. Exisiting connections are not affected, so IRC clients continue to function, provided you don't try to changge servers or otherwise start a new connection. I believe this to be a problem with the biff - after so many times checking a mail account, the errors start. I usually had to reboot to get rid of it, though I didn't try simply disconnecing and reconnecting. This is almost a blocker. This was happening on build 2001030504, I will try to reproduce with the latest and greatest. Oh, and I had it checking a POP account, so it may be specific to that component. I don't have an IMAP account to check with.
Confirmed. I am seeing this too. 2001030804.

Interesting. Do you see this problem if you run the same scenario with biff turned off? What is your biff interval set to? Do you see this problem if you leave biff running and mail/news unattended (ie. not do anything else except biff going off)?
I dunno. Actually, it could have been the process of sending and recieving emails, because that's what I was doing at the time. OTOH, I couldn't repeat it this afternoon when I tried with a newer version. I'll go back and continue use that one and see if I can repeat it.
oh, and my biff interval was 2 minutes.
This is being reported all the time. Bug 67957, 70417, 70605. All dups of 67957 probably.

Daniel, the dup was marked fixed on 3-11, can you confirm you are not seeing the problem anymore with a build after 3-11. I will verify as dup, please reopen if you still see the problem with new build
