User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/16.0.912.63 Safari/535.7 Steps to reproduce: I am using a web handler to redirect the client browser to an image located on another server. Then on the user browser, I am right clicking and Saving Image As. Actual results: The default name has the name of the web handler appended by the image's (jpg) extension. e.g "myWebService.ashx.jpg" If i do a refresh at this point (on the image redirected to), the correct default name shows. Expected results: On all other major browsers, the default file name is the name of the image. For some reason, FF is remembering where the redirect originated from and is using that address for the default name.

Please provide a public URL or reduced test case that exhibits this issue. What headers are being sent?

This shows the headers used during the redirect request. I have control of these headers on my server. You can see that I have attempted to use the content-disposition header to force a default name for the image, but I realize that this shouldn't effect anything.
This shows the headers from the get to the image from a remote server. Notice here that the content-type header is set, but content-disposition is not used. If the content-disposition were actually used, I think I would not have a problem with the default name, however, I do not have control of this server.

Dan, do you still see this happening - is it still an issue? I'm sorry this went unanswered for so long. Thanks!

Not Dan, but I hope this helps. I still see this happening. Try a "Save Image As..." on this PNG http://static.simpledesktops.com/uploads/desktops/2013/08/08/see-ya-there.png It will only happen the first time. If you visit the page again, the Save As name will be correct (i.e. it will have the proper filename as written at the end of the URL and not "simpledesktops.com.png"). Running Firefox 23.0
I'm not quite able to replicate bug in Nightly (30.0) or beta (28.0) Are you still experiencing the bug?

Well, I'm on 27.0.1, but it's still happening there. For instance, loading the image that's linked on this page http://simpledesktops.com/browse/desktops/2013/dec/24/hi-2014/ "First Save As Attempt.jpg" and "Second Save As Attempt.jpg" attached.

I have not been able to replicate problem in Firefox 28.09b When clicking Save as it saves the name of the image as expected. I'm using windows 8.1 btw I will try in Aurora and Nightly.

This is good to hear. Thanks for confirming. I'm using the Mac version (stable releases only), but I hope the same applies. I'll be sure to update if it doesn't.

I'm still seeing this issue on the Mac FF 31.0 release and now I've verified it's also still present on the Windows side with the latest Aurora (33.0a2), safe mode and otherwise. Attachment "2014-07-29 1-43-13 PM.jpg" included. Could you take another look to see if this is consistent with your experience (perhaps a regression?)? Thanks

I don't see a way to edit comments in Bugzilla. Oh well. I forgot to mention a source URL before redirection in order to reproduce properly, e.g. http://simpledesktops.com/browse/desktops/2014/jun/19/w/ and then click the image, right-click > save image as. The image name will be the URL.fileextension instead of the proper name shown in the redirected URL.
