Existing MDN users should be able to continue using existing account. But similar to Bug 715808, if existing users have already changed or lost the old mail address, they cannot log in to existing account after MDN 1.9. Shouldn't MDN provide the way to update mail address with old username and password at least for some transition period?

Opps, I haven't noticed but MDN 1.9 have migration feature illustrated here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Identity/BrowserID/TransitioningSites#BrowserID_flow_with_legacy_migration # https://developer-stage9.mozilla.org/en-US/users/browserid_register Sorry, this bug is INVALID.

I'm pulling one of these into 2.0 so we at least discuss it during our next planning meeting. We should see if we can improve the experience for "User doesn't remember which email they used for MDN." When we discussed it before, I think we realized BrowserID is no worse than the previous scenario - if you forgot which email you used you wouldn't be able to reset your MDN password anyway. But, we didn't account for the user who relies on browser password memory and has forgotten which email is on their account.

Confused... are you saying we need a mechanism that helps a user who's forgotten password and email address, but remembers a username? If a user has forgotten all the above, there's nothing we can do If the browser auto-fills user & pass in the BrowserID "reg" page, that will change the profile's email address on sign-in to one that's currently verified. If there's no auto-fill, and they don't remember anything but user name... We could maybe offer a form that takes a username and sends a reminder email, and hope the user gets the reminder and realizes to what account it was sent. We definitely can't reveal the email address in the browser

Yes - offer a form that takes a username and sends a reminder email. This fixes the problem of "I forgot *which* email address I used for MDN" but we can't really do anything for the "I forgot my email address completely" scenario.
Summary: browserid: forgot my email address → browserid: forgot my MDN email address

* Make a "forgot my email" template * Fill in a "forgot my email" view that sends an email with the username * Add link to browserid_register page at least. Maybe another page?
