A blind user of one of my add-ons reported this issue to me, and with his help I developed a testcase. It seems that JAWS for Windows is unable to properly access the menu part of a menu-button (i.e. a XUL button element with type="menu-button"). He says that when he tabs to the dropmarker, JAWS instructs him to press Space and then use the up- and down-arrow keys to navigate the menu, but that it doesn't work. The button part works fine, however.

The attached extension adds an item "Test menu-button accessibility" to the Tools menu in Firefox. The window it opens explains the setup of the test.

I'm not entirely sure if this is a Mozilla bug, but after posting about this on mozilla.dev.accessibility, I was asked to file this.
Duplicate of bug 653226. This is one of the serious problems that still prevents us from recommending anything after Firefox 3.6 to NVDA users.
