Hey Richard, thanks for this. Would it be okay if we kept this open for now? I feel like there's more discussion to be had around this and how we can categorize and organize the many videos we have. As an initial thought, for example, "engagement" is missing... there are also related categories I listed in the landing page bug... and tags, etc. I'm looking at the Ted site for inspiration and trying to not overcomplicate, but come up with something that helps discoverability and and framework that can help us scale as needed. Would love to keep this open so we can talk about it more, as it relates to design. Thoughts?
Sure, no problem. I was just trying to clear stuff on my plate that's blocking. I really think that the biggest design challenge is going to be making the category list malleable. No matter how much we brainstorm it up front, I'm sure that we will be adding and dropping categories over time as we gain experience with the content. We'll be doing a bunch of things to try to increase community origination of content, so shoehorning everything into just the categories we can see now seems like a bad idea.
Totally makes sense. I am trying to see how we can create content buckets that (as you said) can scale and not conflict with the design. So, figuring out what those look like and how we can design a site that can accommodate accordingly. I have some thoughts, but lets discuss more on Wednesday. Thanks again
