In Options set the homepage as about:newtab
Close/restart the browser 
NOTE: Button to Restore previous Session is NOT displayed, leading one to believe they have lost their session.  Its still available from 'History -> Restore Session'.

Tested using win32 m-c build on win7 x64

The "restore previous session" button is a feature of the about:home page. If you set the homepage to anything else, you won't get that button.
