Using perf build 3-12-01 on windows (mac and linux still need to be tested)
Crash when switch to empty watched threads with unread and click in thread pane.
Steps to be added soon.

I believe the problem when I originally found the crash is that I was
double-clicking in the empty thread pane, although I thought it was a single
click.  So I assume that was trying to open the non-selection into a standalone
window...

Steps:
1.  Select a mail folder with no unread items.
2.  Switch the View to Unread.
3.  Double-click in the empty thread pane. (or if Open in New window is
available on the thread pane context menu, using that will crash, too)
Result: Crash occurs.
1.  Select a newsgroup with no watched threads.
2.  Switch the View to Watched with Unread threads.
3.  Double-click in the empty thread pane. (or if Open in New window is
available on the thread pane context menu, using that will crash, too)
Result: Crash occurs.

I still crash clicking in an empty view using mar29 commercial trunk build,
win98. Haven't tried other platforms, but it's consistent with win98. I'm not
getting any talkback, though...

Hey Seth, I'm still able to crash in today's (april2) commercial trunk build on
win98.  Did your fix make it in?

well, crap.

I did fix a similar crash.  but that was just with an empty view, not an empty
"watched threads with unread" view.

fix in hand.  same fix as the other crasher fixes.

I'll go see if the other special views have crashers waiting to bite me.

Looks OK today. OK with apr3 commercial build, mac OS 9.0,win98,linux rh6.0
