Details
(Whiteboard: [10.0.1])
F11 key does not toggle browser full screen mode on/off if focus was moved to Java content and then back to HTML content.
STR:
1. Go to a page that contains Java (an example from http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/index.html) or Shockwave (a game from http://www.miniclip.com) content
2. Enter full screen mode (F11)
3. Move the focus to the Java o Shockwave content (start playing a game)
4. Move the focus to some HTML content from the page
5. Try to exit full screen mode by pressing F11
Actual result:
Full screen mode is not exited
Expected result:
Browser should exit full screen mode using F11.
Notes:
1. If the focus is moved to other browser area (e.g. url bar), F11 will exit browser full screen
2. Issue is not reproducible with Flash content (e.g Youtube)
3. STR from above can be applied also for entering full screen mode, which also fails.

Moreover, application shortcut keys (keyboard commands such as f11, ctrl+t, ctrl+r) don't work either, after focus is moved from Java/Shockwave content to HTML content/other browser areas

That bug might be a specific case of this one, but it sounds like this bug has STR that involve removing focus from the plugin content, which IMO makes this one even worse (although possibly not 100% reproducible, whereas the other one is 100% reproducible).

How about other platforms (i.e., non-Windows) or Gecko 1.9.x versions?
I actually cannot reproduce this on Nightly. When an applet is in focus I don't have control (bug 78414). When I focus some other content on the page I regain keyboard control.
FWIW, I see the exact same behaviour in Firefox 3.6.0. I'm not sure if this makes it a dupe or not but it certainly does not seem to be a regression.

Mihaela, can you confirm what you are seeing is keyboard shortcuts not working when plugin content is NOT in focus? Can you also please try to reproduce with Firefox 10.0, 10.0.1, and ESR?
Thanks

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
Issue is reproducible also on Firefox 11 beta 2.
Furthermore keyboard shortcuts fail to work also on pages containing Windows Media Player apps.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Load http://mozqa.com/data/firefox/plugins/mediaplayer.html
2. While the video is playing click on the Bookmark Toolbar or on the Menu Bar and try to open a new tab or to close a window using the keyboard shortcuts.
-> Nothing happens when the video is playing even if it's not in focus.
-> Sometimes after the video stops playing the keyboards shortcuts operate again.

Strictly speaking, this isn't "browser content"; it's "browser chrome" and probably a different bug. Even worse than the one reported here, IMO.
As I asked in comment 6, how about other platforms or earlier (Gecko 1.9.x) versions? Or other plugin/media types? Your STR imply it only happens with WMP content. You should test with Java, Flash, and PDF, too, and then report the results in a new bug, along with amended STR from comment 9.

Yes, the issue occurs when plugin content is not in focus (set focus on plugin content and then move the focus to html content/browser regions like toolbars).
I confirm that the issue is reproducible with Firefox 10, 10.0.1, 10.0.1ESR

I could not reproduce on Mac OS X 10.6, Ubuntu 11.10
It is reproducible on Firefox 3.6.26:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.26) Gecko/20120128 Firefox/3.6.26

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
I tested on Windows Vista with Firefox 11 beta 2 and the keyboard shortcuts are also not working as described in Comment 0 on:
- the PDF apps
- the apps that are using Shockwave (on the apps that are using Adobe Flash player the keyboard shortcuts fail when plug-in has focus - as in Bug 78414)

The keyboard shortcuts fail to operate on the WMP content on 3.6.26 too.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.26) Gecko/20120128 Firefox/3.6.26 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Moreover, when focus is moved from shockwave/pdf content to search fields (from pages containing shockwave flash) and browser quick search, you cannot type in those fields.

Asking for tracking Firefox 11 since this is reported to be happening in Firefox 11 as well and Firefox 10 got tracking+.
Mihaela, can you confirm if this is reproducible in Firefox 12 and 13?

Given this, we'll untrack for FF10.
