User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 Build ID: 20111220165912 Steps to reproduce: open http://www.videodownloader.ch/ and entering http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBlfWwf18pY&feature=youtu.be Actual results: firefox 9.0.1 Expected results: a download of the video
Firefox 9.0.1 is outdated. Please upgrade to Firefox 10.0.1. Check your Java plugin: http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ If you are still experiencing this crash, provide the crash ID (bp-... ) from about:crashes.
Attached image abnormalTermination.png
Still happens with 10.1, once I saw a pop-up saying "abnormal termination". Then next time, it died silently again. about:crashes is empty :(
... even though the system config 'send crashes' is checked...
Does it happen in Safe Mode (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode)?
yes, it also dies in safe-mode :(
I can't reproduce it. Does it happen with a new profile (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles)?
with a new profile, it doesn't happen. As soon as I switch back to my old profile, it happens again :( Isn't there anything like "firefox.exe -debugLogToFile" ? -console didn't show anything :(
That's quite an excercise - > 800MB new stuff installed, but then, the nightly doesn't want to start :( Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.12.0002.633 AMD64 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. Please provide a valid stacktrace?
Please provide required information if this still happens in a supported Firefox version.
Flags: needinfo?(hauser)
yes it still happens with v15.0.1
Flags: needinfo?(hauser)
I am ready for a teamviewer/skype session such that you can get further details
Please provide a stacktrace of the crash. See https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report . After doing this, please remove the "stackwanted" keyword from this report.

since my previous attempt (comment 9) to do so failed miserably, I'd rather have an expert doing it with me together as per comment 15. Since I also have an MSIE, I can use it as a work-around for the few not so urgent things where I am affected by the problem.

(In reply to Ralf Hauser from comment #17) > since my previous attempt (comment 9) to do so failed miserably Ralph, windbg is pretty straight forward, though some trial and error isn't uncommon. try these somewhat simplified steps A. prefer to configure symbols once and done. so start windbg, do File | Symbol File path, and paste in SRV*c:\symbols\*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols;SRV*c:\symbols\*http://symbols.mozilla.org/thunderbird;SRV*c:\symbols\*http://symbols.mozilla.org/firefox then B. 1. start firefox. 2. just before you do the steps that cause your crash, File | Attach to a process, and pick firefox.exe 3. <steps> 4. (crash) 5. paste in ~* kp;!analyze -f;lm 6. copy all windbg lines to clipboard

(In reply to Phoenix from comment #19) > Resolved per whiteboard Please stop useless cryptic comments like this and explain instead what you're doing.
I think it's enough detail together with the removing of the whiteboard entry. The comment must be understandable for every advanced bugzilla user (developers, bug triagers, qa). The non responding user doesn't have to understand it.
(In reply to Matthias Versen (Matti) from comment #21) > The non responding user doesn't have to understand it. I obviously disagree.
