Still happens with 10.1, once I saw a pop-up saying "abnormal termination". Then next time, it died silently again.
about:crashes is empty :(

Does it happen in Safe Mode (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode)?
Reporter | ||
Comment 5•13 years ago
|
||
yes, it also dies in safe-mode :(
Comment 6•13 years ago
|

I can't reproduce it.
Does it happen with a new profile (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles)?
Reporter | ||
Comment 7•13 years ago
|

with a new profile, it doesn't happen.
As soon as I switch back to my old profile, it happens again :(
Isn't there anything like "firefox.exe -debugLogToFile" ?
-console didn't show anything :(

Is this still an issue ?
You missed the last 3 commands that you should run in the debugger.

since my previous attempt (comment 9) to do so failed miserably, I'd rather have an expert doing it with me together as per comment 15.
Since I also have an MSIE, I can use it as a work-around for the few not so urgent things where I am affected by the problem.

> since my previous attempt (comment 9) to do so failed miserably
Ralph, windbg is pretty straight forward, though some trial and error isn't uncommon.
try these somewhat simplified steps
A. prefer to configure symbols once and done. so start windbg, do File | Symbol File path, and paste in
SRV*c:\symbols\*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols;SRV*c:\symbols\*http://symbols.mozilla.org/thunderbird;SRV*c:\symbols\*http://symbols.mozilla.org/firefox
then B.
1. start firefox.
2. just before you do the steps that cause your crash, File | Attach to a process, and pick firefox.exe
3. <steps>
4. (crash)
5. paste in ~* kp;!analyze -f;lm
6. copy all windbg lines to clipboard

Please stop useless cryptic comments like this and explain instead what you're doing.

I think it's enough detail together with the removing of the whiteboard entry.
The comment must be understandable for every advanced bugzilla user (developers, bug triagers, qa). The non responding user doesn't have to understand it.

I obviously disagree.
