[wishlist] Publish via Add-on

Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0
Build ID: 20120129021758
Steps to reproduce:
I would like to be able to publish via SFTP but several reports in bugzilla indicate that there are no plans to support SFTP in the core Mozilla code. The FireFTP add-on does support SFTP and FireFTP does work within Seamonkey. It'd be great then if the Publish operation could somehow delegate file transfer operations to an add-on (such as FireFTP) if not be an add-on unto itself.

We can probably do what the KompoZer extension does, that is reuse the FireFTP code.

Err I mean the standalone KompoZer application
That sounds promising, thanks! By "reuse" do you mean import the code each release or leverage the installed extension? The latter would enable the user to get more rapid updates to FireFTP. (assuming the extension is updated more often than SeaMonkey)

I mean probably see how KompoZer does things and do the same. Probably uses the code from FireFTP but not FireFTP itself. Also to be frank we don't have the manpower to move this forwards. Kaze (the KompoZer developer) has long term plans to merge his improvements back into our composer (KompoZer is a distant descendant). But he has a full time job elsewhere that takes up all his time.
