It would be useful, and relatively easy, to find out how commonly search suggestions are used - i.e., how often a user selects an item from the search bar dropdown that was a suggestion vs. a history result.
Yes, please. The UX team is very interested in just how important it is to have Google Suggest strings available when we combine the search and URL bar in the Australis redesign.
Taras, Jono or Jinghua, can you suggest a good person to implement this? Is it something we'd like to do in Test Pilot to get it in front of a larger audience than just our telemetry users?
Changing title since this doesn't have to be telemetry, necessarily.
Summary: search suggestions telemetry → Figure out how much people actually use Google Suggest results from the search box
If you plan to combine Search bar with Location bar - please, do add search suggestions to the keyworded search from Location bar first.
Also add Mardak to his bug, he has some preliminary data for search bar suggestions base a previous Test Pilot study. For example: 231952 / 694119 = 33.4% of urlbar searches include the down key 17712 / 34359 = 51.5% of people using urlbar pressed down
(his ==> this)
Depends on: 733215

We already have telemetry for selection types, and product haven't asked us to add more, so I think this is good enough for now.
