Drag and drop of attachment to desktop or folder becomes url object

Details
While it is possible to drag one attachment to the desktop without incurring the "illegal" mouse pointer, the resulting object becomes a url, and not the actual attachment.
Example:
Email received with pdf attached. RMB on attached pdf and drag to desktop; drop. Result is url object, not the attached pdf.
Attempting to drag multiple attachments results in a single url (possibly related to Bug 270292 or - perhaps dupe of - Bug 377621, though the latter appears to be related to Linux.
Tested under:
Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; Warp 4.5; rv:10.0) Gecko/20120129 Firefox/10.0 SeaMonkey/2.7
and
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20120208 Firefox/10.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.7.1 (which is actually TB 10 on OS/2)
