Animated .gifs images inserted in the compose window should be animated images, not frozen like they are at the moment. This confuses users.

The current behavior has been implemented in bug 14768 nearly 12 years ago for performance reasons, so the decision should be reevaluated.

The setting of the image.animation_mode preference should be respected, thus users on machines with low graphics performance can switch it off. In general though it should be switched on for feedback if the animation is actually present(e.g., it may make a difference if you use drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste when inserting an image, with possibly only the currently visible frame being transferred).
