From today I will not any longer translate Thunderbird (mail) from en-US to de. So we need a new German localizer / mail owner.

Thanks for your support in the last 9 years.
Hi, thanks for all the work you did to make sure that German speakers could use Thunderbird in their native language. I wish you all the best.
The release cycle is every 6 weeks, can you please tell us how many strings on average are added/modified in 6 weeks? (If you can link to a diff or something like that, this would be helpful.)
The latest mail/locales/en-US checkins can be seen in Mercurial:

http://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/log?rev=mail%2Flocales%2Fen-US
The relating german checkins in l10n-central/de can be seen here:

http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/de/log?rev=mail
Sorry, better search URL for l10n-central/de/mail:

http://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/de/log?rev=mail%2F
Alexander: Thank you for all the work you've been doing on Thunderbird over the years, we wish you all the best for the future.

I've not done analysis, but I'm guessing an average of somewhere around 30-50 strings a cycle that are specific to Thunderbird (i.e. mail/ and editor/), of course, depending on what new features have been landed etc. Some of those do tend to be tidy ups, where we're improving strings rather than creating complete new ones.

My instinct for the core (i.e. toolkit/, dom/, netwerk/, security/ etc) strings is that it is about 50-150, but assuming whoever is localising core has completed those, then you shouldn't need to worry about those, although I believe Alexander has helped out there in the past.

At the moment tb_beta is complete for Thunderbird 11. tb_aurora (for Thunderbird 12) has about 29 strings not localised:

https://l10n-stage-sj.mozilla.org/shipping/dashboard?av=tb-aurora&locale=de

and tb_central has about 3, although that might go up before the next merge, of course.

The missing strings in tb_aurora (and now in tb_beta) are a result of a migration fault (2 or 3 checkins from tb_central have been migrated to early).
Thanks Alex for all the work (localization, website, ...). No new person became the German Thunderbird localizer for a longer time and the page for people interested in contributing to Mozilla doesn't offer a contact opportunity to the local community anymore, so I am doing the translation now.
