Lee, If you have already submitted crash reports, please go to about:crashes and paste the crash ids for the crashes you've seen. If the crash id does not already contain a bp-prefix, then if you add one it will automatically be linked to the crash report in crash-stats.mozilla.com. If you haven't submitted any crash reports, please do so and paste the ids here. Thanks.

no they are not - only crash reports there predate thee incidents.
the error message we see says plugin crash and has no crash report option.
we have gone to a machine running leopard and an older firefox and can access and download the files we need with no problem.
How come? We have used firefox for many years and been a monetary supporter. why release a versions that is so problematic?

Widespread problems are seen in Aurora and Beta phase. It's probably related to your configuration (add-ons, settings, drivers, security software...).
Does it happen in Safe Mode (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode)?
Does it happen with a new profile (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles)?
Lee, what plugins do you have installed? In particular, do you have a plugin installed that would view pdfs without having to download them and view them in preview?
error same with add-ons disabled.
