Attachment diplaying the problem
After the landing of bug 729878 , some thumbnails in New Tab page don't update themselves, this happens more with the thumbnails of site which are added via dropping the url on any of the tile, but hapens with normal tiles also.

We can consider site (2) as a redirecting site as the link points to gitthub.com/scrapmac/User-Style-Manager/issues, but github opens the link with previously opened parameters, like ?sort=...&milestone=.. etc etc, but site(1) is not redirecting at all.

Facebook redirects to https://www.facebook.com - so you should pin this on your New Tab. The same happens for google.com, gmail.com, and countless other sites.
PS: This has nothing to do with Bug 729878.

If this is also due to redirection, then no point of having this bug open.
And yes, pinning https://www.facebook.com/ does the job.
The github must be redirecting issue only.
