Please see bug 421242 comment 1 for a full description. Fixing this bug might improve accessibility in the calendar views.

Fixing this bug requires knowledge about XUL and XBL, if you know about the ARIA standard its a bonus.

Sure thing :-) You should find most information you need in the referenced bug, also its initial comment. Another thing that helps, the DOM inspector has an "accessible view" in the dropdown on the top of the left panel. This tells you how a screen reader would see the application.
