STR
1. Start browser.
2. Drag text over the search bar (without releasing the button).
Actual results:
Nothing
Expected results:
Drag feedback to indicate that the search bar will accept the drag.
3. Continue the drag out of the search and back in.
Actual results:
A caret.
Expected results:
Appropriate drag feedback. This is covered by bug 250622.
This bug is about the situation in step 2.
I haven't reproduced with the location bar but that may be because the location bar is initially showing text.

Filed bug 737273 on the colour of the caret when it does show.

This seems unlikely to be a front-end bug to me... Is it GTK-specific?

Same bug exists on 7.
It also happens the first time this is done on a new window.
Does the search bar use a different toolkit object to other inputs?

No, it's just a <xul:textbox type="autocomplete"> (like the URL bar). It may have its own drag&drop handlers...

I've just tried this on latest nightly on all three platforms and I saw a caret each time.
