Details

Fennec/14.0a1 2012-03-25
Device: Motorola Droid 2 (Android 2.3)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to mail.yahoo.com
2. Enter an invalid username and password(so you don't have to log out afterwards).
3. When asked choose to remember the password.
4. Enter a new username and password. When asked choose not to save the password.
5. Reload the page. Delete the username and from the autocomplete see the options.

Expected results:
The username for unsaved login information should not appear in the autocomplete popup.

Actual results:
The username is saved in the autocomplete options. Selecting just the username does not clear the password field where the old password( from the first account) remains.
This could be misleading for a user that might not remember if he/she has saved the password or not.
Summary: User name should not be saved as an autocomplete value when the user chooses not to save the login information → Login name should not be saved as an autocomplete value when the user chooses not to save the login information
Brian, Margaret any thoughts?
Is this reproducible on desktop Firefox? We're using shared password/form saving code, so this is likely a more general issue, and probably one that merits UX input.
Changing the user agent to the Android Useragent on Desktop Firefox 11 and following the above mentioned steps I can see that the username is not retained as an autocomplete option if the user chooses "Not now" when asked to save the password.

The user agent shouldn't matter, since this is a bug with our code, not a website's code, but this verifies that this is a fennec issue we should fix.
Tracking nomination for future based on comment #4's recommendation.

Let's double check the desktop behavior. I think this might be WFM.

As Adrian said previously the behavior is different following the STR, the username is not retained as an autocomplete option if the user chooses "Not now" when using desktop firefox or Android Useragent on Desktop Firefox.
