It's time to release Bugzilla 4.2.1. We fixed several annoying bugs discovered in 4.2 or some bugs which were already present in 4.0 but never fixed. I think 4.2.1 is very solid and is the release several admins are waiting for before upgrading their installations (I read somewhere that an admin was waiting for the first minor release, because he said that most major releases are not that stable, which is not really wrong).

Also, it's high time to release the first development snapshot of the 4.3 series. We didn't release anything from the trunk for a very long time (4.1.3 was released on August 4, 2011). Also, we are supposed to branch for 4.4 in May, so it would be nice to have at least two development snapshots before we branch. The 2nd snapshot could be released when we branch.

There is nothing exciting for the 4.0 and 3.6 branches, but 4.0.6 has a fix about the charset used in XML-RPC, which we regressed in a security bug. As we also have a security bug ready for checkin, we will release 4.0.6 with both fixes. I don't expect 4.0.7 to be released before a long time as the rate at which security bugs were reported has severely decreased over the last few weeks. 3.6.9 would only contain the security fix as we didn't fix any other bug there.
